Highlights of 2001 2001 was yet another event-filled year. The most
dramatic development was Julia's retirement from the Bank of Botswana,
after 17 years, to join the International Monetary Fund on March 1. Per
left his job with the University of Botswana to join Julia in June. Moleko and Kutlo got a babygirl, making us proud
grandparents to 5 grandchildren. After a long period of suffering from
Alzheimer's, Per's mother passed away in October, 88 years old. This was
followed by another loss in the family, of Julia's grandmother who died in
November at the age of 101. Both will be greatly missed. MmaNkhute had
attracted considerable media attention in Botswana as one of the oldest
people in the country and the oldest in her village, Masunga. She was
amazingly alert to the last hour of her life and leaves behind an
admirable legacy of family morale support and encouragement. We have put together a number of pictures for
each month of the year. If you have time (or broadband), you may view the
events of each month by clicking on any of the months. |
